The project proposes a new system architecture for future 6G Smart Networks, characterised by high performance and energy efficiency, facilitating advanced internet applications. Key goals include driving an industry revolution, fostering digital transformation, and building smart societies with improved quality of life through features, like autonomous systems, haptic communication, and smart healthcare. Acknowledging the need for sustainable approaches, the project emphasises new strategies for telecomunication infrastructure design, calling for multi-stakeholder ecosystems involving Mobile Network Operators and resource owners. The “network of networks” concept in 6G poses management challenges, and 6G-INTENSE tackles these challenges by suggesting a smart orchestration approach called Distributed Intent-driven Management and Orchestration (DIMO). This involves simplifying and coordinating computational and communication resources through abstraction and federation.
